Sorto per iniziativa delle Terziarie Francescane presenti a Correggio fin dal 1605, il Monastero di Santa Chiara è il risultato delle trasformazioni di diversi corpi di fabbrica, tra cui quello del contiguo Oratorio della SS. Trinità (officiato dall’omonima Confraternita) acquistato nel 1740. Nel 1711 le monache accettarono la regola di Santa Chiara e la clausura, ma soppresso il convento nel 1810, venne ripristinato nel 1825 con l’ingresso delle monache cappuccine di Spilamberto. Il Monastero, di clausura, non è accessibile al pubblico, ad eccezione della Chiesa di Santa Chiara, che si affaccia sulla cosiddetta Piazzetta delle Suore.

Built by the Third-Order Franciscan nuns, who had been in Correggio since 1605, the Monastery of Saint Claire (Monastero di Santa Chiara) was obtained from the transformation of various structures, including the adjoining Oratory of the Holy Trinity (served by the Confraternita della Santissima Trinità), acquired in 1740. In 1711, the nuns accepted the rule of St. Claire and became cloistered, but then the convent was abolished in 1810. It was restored to use in 1825 by the Capuchin nuns of Spilamberto. The cloistered monastery is not accessible to the public, with the exception of the Church of Santa Chiara, which gives onto the “Piazzetta delle Suore”, named after the nuns.
